Description

Schwienhorst-Schönberger has written a characteristically thorough, comprehensive, and exhaustive German analysis of the “Book of Covenant." It is a publication of his Münster dissertation under the direction of Erich Zenger. The study is concerned with the origin and development of these legal materials, and the relation between sacral law and profane law. Sub-points in this general investigation concern the institutional background of these law's and the ways in which the laws have been progressively developed in a theological direction. The arguments of the book are well-informed by the history of recent scholarship and special attention is paid to the work of Halbe and Otto.
