Description

I found it difficult to get a decent copy of the Greek text to the supposedly-apocryphal "Epistle of Barnabas," so I created my own. Although in antiquity it was usually held as a genuine production of Saint Paul's companion Barnabas (mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles 14:14), Eusebius of Caesarea rejected its authenticity. It should be remembered that Eusebius was partial to the peculiar orthodoxy of Constantine and cannot be trusted as a reliable witness. Helmut Koester places its dating in the first century CE. It has a number of parallels found in the Enochic writings.
