Description

This book investigates the port city of Santander, in the northern Iberian Peninsula. It investigates the relationships between society and its spaces as integral parts of the medieval urban phenomenon. On the one hand, the spaces of geographical-economic production (heritage); on the other hand, the spaces of social reproduction of citizens, both women and men (kinship) and their links with local institutions (power), as well as the strategies followed by the oligarchy to guarantee the maintenance of tangible and intangible heritage.
