San Vicente de la Barquera : 800 años de historia
Book information
Description
San Vicente de la Barquera was one of the great ports of Cantabrian shores in the Middle Ages. The Kings Alfonso VIII and Leonor Plantagenet granted a royal charter to the port in 1210 and the successive monarchs gave special privileges as well. This way, the town-port was strategically placed to serve the royal interests and its fishing and trading activities extended far and wide. San Vicente de la Barquera still displays signs of those prosperous centuries, which are studied in this book. San Vicente de la Barquera: 800 years of History is more than a book of history or for historians, as it is a richly illustrated guide to its history.
