Description

This master’s thesis deals with the sociolect of the drug scene in the Czech, German, Russian and English languages. The main objective of the thesis is to gather sufficient language material related to this specific sociolect and its subsequent alignment into a four-language dictionary of drug slang. In the theoretical part, a comparative analysis of three types sociolects characteristics (slang argot, jargon) was performed in this context. In the practical part, besides the process of creating the dictionary, there are mentioned representative examples of terms used in drug slang, demonstrating some lexical phenomena, and the ways in which the specifics of local language scenes are reflected in the terminology of the respective drug slangs.
