An evaluation on the mythology of Gagauz Turks.Having taken their mythological, old cultural and religious heritage from their past Gagauzs have modified their own beliefs and myths, as well as the contents of their mythological, old cultural and religious heritage shaping them by the contemporary conditions. As it can be understood from the results of the conducted research, the belief in mythological discourses was strong until the end of XIX th century. Yet, supposedly as the result of enlightenment, in XX th century belief in scientific explanations made the old mythic beliefs survive as discourses in which contents are not believed. While, some mythological motifs belonging to Gagauz Turks that we encounter has a great similarity with the mythological motifs of other Turkic nations, others resemble Slavic nations’ mythological motifs.
