This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed postproceedings of the First International Workshop on Rapid Integration of Software Engineering Techniques, RISE 2004, held in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, Luxembourg in November 2004. The 12 revised full papers presented together with an invited paper went through two rounds of reviewing and improvement and were selected from 28 initial submissions.
