Urumchi: Xinjiang 's Puplishing House, 1997. — 830 p. ISBN 7-228-01381-6This Uighur-English dictionary was compiled with the aim of providing a useful tool for both English speaking students of Uighur and Uighur students of English. Containing approximately 12,500 high-frequency words from both literary and spoken Uighur, the word list was compiled by asking two native speakers to compile separate word lists, based on the "Modern Literary Uighur Spelling Dictionary" (Urumqi: 1985) and the "Uighur-Chinese Dictonary" (Urumqi: 1982) respectively. Unfortunately, to our knowledge, no word counts exist for modern literary or spoken Uighur, and the compilation of definitive word lists will have to wait until the necessary research has been undertaken.
