Description

This paper discusses current efforts to standardizethe two major Andean languages: Quechua and Aymara. The difficultiesin gaining consensus on standardizing phonology, grammar, and lexiconare highlighted. Specific recommendations are offered on how to dealwith neologisms, and a proposal is made for the creation of a pan-Andean entity to resolve the issue of standardization. (JL)
