Its location is the Aran Valley (Era Val d’Aran in Aranese) in the province of Lérida (Catalan Lleida, Aranese Lheida). Aranese is co-official language with Catalan and Spanish in Catalonia. The paper is concerned mainly with sociolinguistic issues.
