Description

Ethete: Northern Arapaho Tribe, 1983. 229 p.It gives me great pleasure to make available to the Arapaho people the Dictionary of Contemporary Arapaho Usage, one of the results of our fruitful collaboration over the past several years. In view of the current efforts of the Arapaho to stem the further erosion of their cultural heritage, it is my sincere hope that the present work will do its share in enhancing the use of their language and preserving its integrity. In its scope, the Dictionary is to be taken as a collection of commonly used words and phrases occurring in the speech of and acceptable to the majority of fluent Northern Arapaho speakers. Although far from a complete 1isting of elicitable Arapaho words, the work should be helpful to high school students and their teachers as an instructional resource for language study. It is further my hope that the Dictionary will be used as a language guide by those Arapaho adults who are concerned with the maintenance and reinforcement of ethnic identity and native language skills among their children and grandchildren.Прим.: Единственный словарь языка арапахо, последовательно отмечающий музыкальное ударение. Незаменим на начальном этапе изучения языка.
