Who Is Abbas?

Abbas was the son of famous personality in history of Islam, i.e. Imam Ali, Throughout history, numerous distinguished personalities have emerged from various nations and epochs who shined as bright stars due to their exceptional merits and accomplishments in serving humanity. One of these stars is Abbas, the son of Ali ibn Abi Taleb (as), who was the divinely appointed successor of the Seal of Prophets and Messengers, Muhammad (pbuh & hp). Abbas (as) is a gigantic star that shines brightly even in the darkest of nights. He is considered one of the central figures and superstar of the historical event known as Karbala (or the Battle of Karbala) which occurred on the tenth of Muharram, which is the first month of the Islamic calendar, in the year 61 A.H. (October 680 CE) in Karbala, a barren desert region in present-day Iraq. Hussain ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh & hp) and the guardian of the Islamic message, sacrificed everything he possessed in the way of God the Almighty, thereby safeguarding the religion of Islam from the pitfalls of misguidance and deviation.
