Reading Great-grandfather's 1868 Diary for His Story
Book information
Description
Reading Great-grandfather's 1868 Diary for His Story blends autobiography and biography. Charles Edward Dickinson kept a diary while attending the Academy, a preparatory school in St. Louis. Seventeen, he lived with his uncle and aunt, and led a bourgeois life. But things went badly for him as his school year ended. Charles Edward's words are transcribed at bi-monthly intervals and interspersed chapters explain the diary pages. Then at the close of the diary account, additional chapters outline the balance of Charles Edward's life. The effect of Charles Edward's life would cross three generations and influence the founding of Silicon Valley.
