This small collection of essays is drawn from multiple publishedsources and spans many years of my critical writings on the topicof sound-art and sound-sculpture. The majority of the texts arereflections upon my own creative practice in its attempts toembrace of the biological and environmental sciences and reflectupon our ever changing relationship to the ‘natural’ world.I hope the reader will find these texts of some interest and willforgive me for the inevitable overlaps between one essay andanother — also for the variations in style and layout which I havedecided to leave in the original format(s).Finally it is important to acknowledge that many of the creativeprocesses and methodologies that underpin the development of theworks mentioned are collaborative. Whilst several texts directlyidentify the principal collaborating scientists, technicians andartists, there are many others unannounced, who have lent theirenergy and enthusiasm toward the realisation of these projects.
