Статья. Уральский исторический вестник. - 2011. - № 2 (31). - С. 107-115. The article deals with the subject of the Siberian Khanates — the Turkic-Tatar states which existed in the 14th–16th centuries in the forest steppe and the south taiga zones of Western Siberia. The author performed an analysis of the archeological studies of their capitals and the large military and administrative centers. The importance of transit latitudinal and longitudinal trade routes for the existence of the Khanates is demonstrated. The author also emphasized the need of further study of the Khanates’ boundaries as an important factor for the evaluation of the level of the state power development. According to the author it offers good potential for the creation of a cultural and historical atlas of Western Siberia of the second millennium BC.
