Global events such as economic crisis, political turmoil, social unrest and militarization affect women disproportionately; however women are also leading socialist struggles against oppression and exploitation around the world. Within this context a renewed interest in Marxist theory among many women activists and academics is opening up fresh avenues for Marxist-feminist discourse. In this new collection authors reassess the debates about Marxism and feminism and reject the notion of 'divorce' between them, seeking to answer pressing ideological questions: how can we better understand the relationship between patriarchy and capitalism, or imperialism and fundamentalism?
