Description

University of California Press, 1980 - Science - 628 pagesAbout 15 years ago, a unique and important flash-radiographic facility becameoperational at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. This facility is known asPHERMEX, which is an acronym for Pulsed ZTlgh Energy Radiographic MachineEmitting X rays. The PHERMEX machine is a high-current, 30-MeV, linear electronaccelerator that produces very intense but short-duration bursts ofbremsstrahlung from a thin tungsten target for flash radiographic studies of explosivesand explosive-driven metal systems. The facility was built in the early1960s to complement other hydrodynamics facilities at Lm Alamos and to implementstudies of shock waves, jets, spalling, detonation characteristics of chemicalexplosives, and other hydrodynamic phenomena.ContentsIntroductionData presentationReferencesCatalog of shot subjects, PHERMEX shots 401 through 800 (Vol II)Catalog of shot subjects, PHERMEX shots 1 through 800 (Vol I and II)PHERMEX shots 401 through 800
