Nelson)(Venom Press, 1984)---BUFO ALVARIUS: THE PSYCHEDELIC TOAD OF THE SONORAN DESERTAlbert Most was a pseudonym for Ken Nelson of Denton, Texas, who was the first person to describe the process of smoking the venom of Bufo alvarius, (known commonly as the Sonoran Desert toad). The toad species contains the psychedelic tryptamine hallucinogens 5-MeO-DMT and bufotenin (5-HO-DMT), principally (along with several other species in the genus beyond B. alvarius, it appears, all of which similarly produce the venom containing 5-methoxy-DMT, bufotenin, etc.).It should be noted that Nelson in his original Bufo pamphlet from the 1980s does not mention any additional substituted tryptamines beyond 5-MeO-DMT.As Albert Most, Ken authored the booklet instructional guide to smoking the Bufo venom in 1983, founding the publishing entity "Venom Press" to self-release his first book, Bufo alvarius: The Psychedelic Toad of the Sonoran Desert,in 1984.Venom Press would go on to publish at least two other books by Nelson using the Albert Most moniker:First a follow-up booklet on Syrian Rue, Peganum harmala: The Hallucinogenic Herb of the American Southwest, released in 1985.Then in 1986, what seems to be the final publication by Nelson's Venom Press, a work entitled Eros and the Pineal: The Layman's Guide to Cerebral Solitaire, is released.---IN MEMORY OF KENNETH EDWARD NELSON, WHO PASSED AWAY ON OCTOBER 8, 2019.
