Lightning Strikes Twice: A True Story of Tenacity, Hope, and Perseverance
Book information
Description
This is the author's true story of a cycle of tragedy and hope that befalls a young 17-year old-man who suffers a diving accident and drowns. Miraculously, he survives. His life is changed forever and he faces all kind of vicissitudes as a quadriplegic. Miguel's life is a triumphal story of rehabilitation, but not before he has to suffer the trials associated with his disability all over again at the age of 52 due to complications of a second neck surgery. "Lightning Strikes Twice" is about finding a reason to live and fight again after losing everything. In Miguel's case, this includes his health, job, house and wife. Since he has no one to care for him, he eventually ends up in a nursing home. During this time, recalling scriptures taught to him by his godly mother, he finds strength to carry on when there is seemingly no hope. With a Master's in Psychology and too young to be in a nursing home, he fights the system and becomes an advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves.
