Yakovlev Yak-25/26/27/28: Yakovlev's Tactical Twinjets КНИГИ ;ВОЕННАЯ ИСТОРИЯ Yakovlev Yak-25/26/27/28: Yakovlev's Tactical TwinjetsByYefim Gordon, Dmitriy KomissarovPublisher:Midland Publishing2002 128 PagesISBN: 1857801253PDF78 MBDuring the 1950s and 1960s the Soviet design bureau Yakovlev was responsible for a series of swept-wing, twin-engined, tactical jet combat aircraft. The Yak-25 Flashlight, which was first flown in 1953, was a tandem-seat fighter interceptor with bicycle landing gear. From this basic design stemmed other developments including the Yak-25RD Mandrake, an aircraft designed for reconnaissance duties, and the Yak-26, which was a three-seater with strengthened wings. The Yak-27 was a further improvement, known to NATO by the code word Mangrove. A variant of this type, the 27P which had a night fighter role, was called Flashlight-C. The slightly larger Yak-28 Brewer first appeared in public in 1961 at Tushino. Although this bore a strong family resemblance to the earlier Yak-25, 26 and 27s, the Yak-28 was a completely new design which largely replaced the IL-28 with the VVF. The complete Yak family is covered in detail in this Aerofax which continues the series' respected coverage of Soviet airpower. As with the other Soviet books, this one offers a mass of new information, detail and illustrations drawn from original Russian sources. Much of this material is appearing in print for the first time. An addition to the range of successful Aerofax titles on Soviet aviation. Much of the material in the book is drawn from Russian sources and has not been seen before in the West. Highly illustrated with over 250 photos in addition to drawings and side views. The well respected Aerofax series appeals to both modellers and historians. The promotion of the book will be aimed at both these interest groups. letitbitsharingmatrix 0
