Description

In 2006, the author was assigned to the Ethiopian diplomatic mission in Yemen. During a decade of service in Sana’a, he had the opportunity to meet and discuss pertinent political and security issues with various segments of Yemeni society. It was part of his mission to assess all possible ways to bring peace in the aftermath of the Arab spring of 2011.This book is an attempt to enlighten readers about the complexity of the ongoing conflict in Yemen as well as its perceived or real implications for the neighboring countries, the Horn of Africa, Ethiopia included. It identifies and analyses the drivers, actors, and political dynamics in the Yemen conflict, prospects for peace, and the way forward. Time-wise, the book looks at the period of the Arab Spring- post-2011.The writer believes this work will help academicians, policymakers, international institutions, and those working in the field of peace and security, by sensitizing them to the need to minimize the security vulnerability of Yemen as well as mitigate its impact on the neighboring countries, including the Horn of Africa.
