From educating the aesthetic person to the Shoah, the book traces the development of a discourse that idealized the “beautiful person” and the “creative individual” and thereby led to the suppression of monotheism and the foundation of a secular religiosity, paving the way toward the “völkisch” ideology of National Socialism.
