The chapters in this book reflect the growing edge of feminist therapy and, as such, mirror the maturity of thinking about psychotherapy with women. As women working together with women, these therapists have gone beyond the realization of psychological theory based on male developmental norms and have come to understand its inadequacy in explaining the female experience. While several authors previously have examined gender-based developmental psychological differences and the implications such differences have for mental health workers and mental health policy, little has been written about the clinical application of such principles, especially for the advanced psychotherapist.
