his treatise in the " *De contemptu mundi* " genre: [De Cognitione Humanæ Conditionis](https://archive.org/details/patrologiaecurs00unkngoog/page/n247) ( **DjVu pp. 247ff.** ): gotta love the alliterative 2nd sent. of ch. 2 (PDF pp. 250-1): " *Peccatores peccatorem in peccato suo genuerunt, et de peccato nutriverunt.* […] *Nihil aliud est homo quam sperma fetidum, saccus stercorum, cibus vermium.* " (Reminds me of *Hamlet* 's "breeders of sinners".)
