Description

This reference work sets out the knowledge required by engineers and scientists to use intellectual property law. It explains the general principles behind the law protecting innovation, quoting cases from the engineering domain in order to clarify the issues. Chapters outline the basic rights, from automatic protection (copyright, design right), through registration systems (patent, registered design, trade mark). The text then covers precisely who owns rights and how their use is constrained by EC law. Other subjects discussed include how to licence, and how to use litigation when necessary.
