Leonardo e l'Antico. Villae - convegno di studi - una sintesi introduttiva
Book information
Description
Leonardo's interest in the structures of the monumental archaeological site is documented by several sketches and notes. The most renowned of these notes, those of the Arundel Code depicting the so called Serapeum of the Tiburtine imperial Villa, have long been analysed and examined by the greatest Vincian experts (Pedretti, Marani), and by scholars of the Tiburtine imperial Villa (Cinque). The Convention was conceived on the basis of the results of this research, with the aim of attesting, clarifying and promoting knowledge of Leonardo's visit, as well as scrutinizing the influence that this first trip had on the education of the Genius, on his research and his ever more substantiated connection with the ancient. The Convention touches on the less known themes of Vincian research and on the dialectical relationship between Leonardo and his contemporaries.
