Generally, Army initiatives lead to reorganization, so that s what people have come to expect. The Materiel Enterprise (ME) is not typical. Its about bringing to bear the relevant people from across our institution that can address particular issues and make sure that all views are heard so that senior leaders can make the best informed decisions possible for the Army. The words of Col. Anne Davis, the director of the Materiel Enterprise Task Force for Army Materiel Command (AMC), describe in a nutshell the meaning of the Materiel Enterprise initiative and the broader Army Enterprise to AMC. Based on the need for change among the Army institutions that sustain joint forces and generate trained and ready units, the Army Enterprise approach is aimed at bringing the institutional Army and the operational Army into balance. The enormous burden of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan over the last eight years has strained the Armys ability to generate force, said Lt. Gen.
