This study reevaluates the German reception of Gallo-Romanic pastourelles by analyzing the history of their motifs. It focuses on the way that minnesingers engaged with the central motifs of the genre and utilizes the entire corpus of transmitted Gallo-Romanic pastourelles, thereby emphasizing new features in German pastourelle research as well.
