Translation and introductions by Marcelle Thiébaux. The writings of medieval women contribute generously to our understanding of women’s lives and history, their centuries, and all of medieval literature. Many of the selections offered here are translated into English for the first time. The bibliography that follows this Introduction includes the valued work of other scholars and translators in this endeavor; several of the listed works also treat the women writers in the present anthology.
