Successful Value in Investing in Asia: 10 Timeless Principles

I wanted to give this 3.5 stars, but that is not possible. I went with 4 stars because I think 3 stars is not what the book deserves.

While not a definitive source for investing in the Asian markets, this book does give a fair historical view of those markets going back as far as the 50's. There are many references to HSBC which the author even admits "oh no, not again."

If you are looking for a way into the Asian markets, I don't think this will give you the edge. If you are an amateur investor then I'd recommend staying away from the Asian markets until you can gain a much better understanding of what Value Investing really is. For me, the Asian markets are still young on the outside. Getting all the necessary information required to really understand an Asian business is tough. While this book gives a general overview, it does not provide any direct references to evaluating a single Asian business as one needs to do as a value investor. As the book title suggests, it outlines 10 principles - which are not methods. I think a more appropriate title would have been, "10 Timeless Principles to Value Investing in Asia" to bring forward what the book is really about.
