Si afferma una tendenza al miscuglio sincretico, mentre per converso nascono o si rafforzano spinte identitarie o neo-identitarie. Il meticciato, o "métissage", proposto da Laplantine e Nouss offre delle chiavi di lettura per capire il processo in atto. In questo libretto i due autori tracciano sinteticamente le linee essenziali di quella antropologia del "métissage" che si va affermando da una decina d'anni.
