Description
BB-60, the USS Alabama was the fourth and final South Dakota-class battleship and recipient of nine battle stars during WWII. Now a museum ship berthed at Mobiles Battleship Memorial Park in her namesake state, she is a unique floating memorial and tribute to the men who crewed her. This photo essay covers the vessel from stem to stern, focusing on deck features, superstructure details, weapons and fire control systems. Includes color profiles depicting various camouflage schemes - Measure 12 (port and starboard), Measure 21, Measure 22 and Measure 13, plus seaplanes (Vought OS2U Kingfisher and Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk). Additional illustrations include 73 black & white and 85 color photos, detailed line art and color cover paintings.
