Book 1, props. 16 & 17 are what Peirce (in [*CP* 8](https://isidore.co/calibre/#panel=book_details&book_id=3991).91) says are Euclid's fallacious arguments. Introduction ## § 3.FIRST PRINCIPLES: DEFINITIONS, POSTULATES, AND AXIOMS.is a very good overview of what these terms mean in Euclid. Heath concludes that Euclid's usage of the terms most aligns with Aristotle, esp. in his *Posterior Analytics* , which Heath quotes *in extenso*. cf.
