Sample preparation is applied to make real world samples amenable for chromatographic analysis, or to improve the results of this type of analysis. A wide variety of procedures are applied for this purpose, and their description is the main goal of the present book. The principles of these procedures are explained, discussing their advantages and disadvantages, and their applicability to different types of samples as well as their fit for different types of chromatographic analysis. This provides a guide for choosing the appropriate sample preparation for a given analysis. The book also contains numerous literature references and examples of sample preparation for different matrices.
