This is one of the earliest known publications by W.E. Fairbairn. The tactics and principles outlined in this book were latter expanded upon, and the system became known as Defendu - although Fairbairn himself often called it Gutter Fighting.This book is also interesting as it is strictly a police manual - and as such the techniques place an emphasis on subduing and apprehending the adversary, rather than simply killing the adversary.
