Description

One of the stalwarts of RAF service and beloved by her crews, the Nimrod has a sage which could be said to be mixed. This well illustrated book provides a thorough explanation of development, service and prospects for the aircraft as things stood in the mid-eighties. The cover shot is a little misleading since the bulk of the book is about the maritime recce versions but the chapter on the AEW is very interesting. Back then there was hope for two decades or more of service left in the RAF fleet at least for the MR2 but if the author had a good crystal ball he would see much more success tinged with sadness and disappointment. To find out about how the Nimrod fared you will have to purchase an additional book but all I can say is that this tome is a worthy addition to anyone interested in RAF aircraft.
