The Gita talks of success prosperity, and justice, leading to liberation and happiness. Happiness is a spiritual value and not a function of material conditions. Discipline, moderation, self abidance, toleration, and selfless work make one happy. It is this happiness which gives meaning to material affluence, leading to inner harmony and creative living. He thus sees no contradiction in the fact of a spiritual text being relevant to the economic sphere of life, specially since Artha has been mentioned as one of the four legitimate aspirations of the human being. He decries both religious and cultural fundamentalism and suggests that in an increasingly global and competitive world market, we would do well to assess both our strengths and weaknesses. We have a deep cultural and spiritual foundation... Let us not repeat the mistakes of others but, at the same time let us not be afraid of interacting with others.. We have to give so that we can take with pride, and in the process, create a a new synergy of creative togetherness.
