This book is about happiness, those aspects of life relevant to being happy, some relevant processes in the brain and personal examples from my life experience.There are many books about happiness. Most of them are interesting and enjoyable. Some are more philosophical, some less, and some leave us with important questions unanswered.“Can we live a happier life?!” is a practical book. It deals with many aspects of happiness, some of which do not seem related at first glance.There is no definite standard to evaluate happiness, or “how well is my life going”. In many cultures it is common to view wealth as a measure of one’s success, and maybe even of happiness. However, studies have clearly shown that wealth, beyond some satisfying level, is no guarantee for more happiness. In this book I propose a new index – HQ, like IQ and EQ, as a measuring yardstick to one’s potential to feel happy.The book is based on my personal observations and introspections, which began 38 years ago when I started to meditate. The process intensified when I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, receiving the highest priority and thought since then.Each chapter includes some practical advice which can be easily applied in daily life.
