Description

This book consists of 13 chapters by various authors from a variety of backgrounds, such as lecturers, historians, buildings inspectors and architectural historians, all united by one thing, an interest in the centres of Christian worship in Britain. The result is a wide-ranging survey of the discipline, with contributions from outside but related fields of study. The contributions are divided into five sections; being 'The Early Church AD 400-1200', 'The Later Middle Ages', 'Post-Reformation Churches', 'Human Remains' and 'Legislation'. This division makes it easy to use the book, and supports its claim to offer 'Research Directions for the Future'.
