Homotopic topology
Book information
Description
This book is a translation of courses and seminars held at Moscow State University in the 1960s. For many years it was the main source in the East on homotopy theory and the Adams spectral sequence. In a very thorough treatment it takes one from the basic notions of homotopy theory up to the spectral sequence calculations in stable homotopy (the Adams spectral sequence) and to the J-homomorphism. This pleasant treatment is interspersed with the artistic gems of A. F. Fomenko , which are a refreshing change from the tedium of North American topology textbooks. The Russian original, published in two volumes, has been reviewed [Izdat. Moskov. Univ., Moscow, 1967; MR 40 #8052; MR 40 #8053].
