This timely study looks at a selection of poets from different areas, including Heaney, Walcott, and Ramanujan. While making cross-cultural comparisons, the book situates works in their specific national, poetic, cultural, and political contexts. In contrast to most postcolonial criticism, particular attention is paid to the language and form of the poems.
