Description

Mammals of Colorado provides detailed information on the identification, ecology, behaviour, reproduction, taxonomy, and distribution of the state's mammals. The first three chapters discuss Colorado's physiography and ecosystems; the evolution, anatomy, and biogeography of mammals; a history of their study in Colorado; and, the many different values that people hold in relation to mammals. The remaining chapters provide accounts of species, each including a description, the natural history, and the distribution of the particular species in Colorado. Richly illustrated, "Mammals of Colorado" features 268 distribution maps (Colorado and North America), 34 skull drawings, and a photograph of each species. This comprehensive volume incorporates and cites new research from the past twenty years on the mammals of Colorado and focuses on work conducted within the state.
