Knowing the items people will most likely need and want means you can stock up on them, even if you dont want or need them for your own personal use. Its like having currency in the bank. A thousand pages could be written about survival and responses to disasters or crises but there is no way that that amount of information could ever be contained in one book let alone inside your head. The key to preparation is to start where it benefits you the most. You wouldnt need to pack snow chains and ice picks if you lived in the desert would you? No each person is going to have their own opinions on what needs to be prepared for, what supplies need to be kept on hand, and what skills need to be trained for. One of the mistakes people make is telling themselves that they will start buying items soonor next paycheck or next month. The main problem with this frame of mind is that a disaster doesnt happen on schedule. That next big quake or F5 tornado could hit much sooner than your next paycheck..
