The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the European Union: The Impact on Law and Governance
Book information
Description
Ten years ago, the European Union made a historic accession to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). This book analyses the impact of the CRPD on EU non-discrimination law and governance to date, and explores whether the theory has been put into practice. To understand if the CRPD is living up to its full potential to substantially improve the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities in the EU, this book brings together the practices of the European Court of Justice (CJEU) with regard to disability discrimination in the workplace. Additionally, it investigates whether the governance mechanisms underlying the EU Framework for promoting, protecting, and monitoring the CRPD are effectively fostering the implementation of the CRPD and the role of civil society. This book will be of interest to academics, law students, and legal practitioners working in the field of EU non-discrimination and equality law. Professional Linux kernel architecture ''Wrox programmer to programmer''--Cover. - ''What you are reading right now is the result of an evolution over more than seven years: After two years of writing, the first edition was published in German by Carl Hanser Verlag in 2003. It then described kernel 2.6.0. The test was used as a basis for the low-level design documentation for the EAL4+ security evaluation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, requiring to update it to kernel 2.6.18 (if the EAL acronym does not mean anything to you, then Wikipedia is once more your friend). Hewlett-Packard sponsored the translation into English and has, thankfully, granted the rights to publish the result. Updates to kernel 2.6.24 were then performed specifically for this book''--P. ix
