Missions & Psychoheresy
Book information
Description
In preparation for this book, the Bobgans interviewed the 50 largest Christian mission agencies in the United States and asked three questions: Do you use mental health professionals to screen or evaluate missionary candidates? Do you use psychological tests to screen or evaluate missionary candidates? Do you use or favor the use of mental health professionals to assist missionaries if they are experiencing problems of living? The Bobgans give the results of the survey and present three myths having to do with psychological expertise, psychological testing, and psychological treatment. They explain test validity and describe the following popular personality tests: the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis, and the DiSC.
