The content covers the course taught to engineering students in their first year and a яignificant part of their second year. It is hoped that, by the aid of this book, the latter part may be relegated to the first year course so as to give room to modern and more advanced material to be taught in subsequent courses. The book contains a large number of fully worked out examples. A large proportion of these are based on questions set in examination papers of both Egyptian and foreign universities. Also, the book contains a large number of examples to be worked out that appear at the end of each chapter. These are presented in the same sequence as the various sections within the chapter and are generally arranged in order of difficulty.
