Alphabet Travels Around the World has been a labor of love for colors, shapes, words, and especially children. It is hoped the younger child will respond to the bright colors and the rhythm of the words. And perhaps the older child may be inspired to try their own hand at design or even open an atlas! With phonetic pronunciation footnotes there on each page, even a young reader can sound confident and competent—even worldly! With some of the letters I incorporated colors or motifs reflective of one of the place names: red tulips for the Netherlands, plaid with Scotland, sea and shells for islands, etc. And a deliberate effort was made to include place names from the continents in equal measure. As an avid reader myself I have learned of many fascinating places in our wonderful world by "traveling" there via books and have been fortunate enough to visit some in person.
