Misunderstood intimacy: A pastoral approach to pedophilia
Book information
Description
A rare scholarly work offering a sympathetic Christian approach to the sensitive topic of preferential attraction to people before puberty (pedophilia / paedophilia), and mutually willing sexual contact between legal adults and young people. The authors: Rev. Hans Visser was leader of the Pauluskerk (St. Paul's Church) in Rotterdam, a parish of the Netherlands Reformed Church. He helped counsel stigmatized sexual minority populations, including transsexuals, transvestites, sadomasochists, and pedophiles. Rev. Donald H. Mader (1948-2022) was a photographer, publisher and boylove activist, who worked as an assistant pastor. He published many scholarly articles and essays on topics such as Uranian writers, the history of pederasty, and the early homophile / homosexual rights movement. Together, they organized many conferences and events. Notably, they orchestrated funeral / remembrance proceedings for pastor Joseph Doucé (1945-1990), a co-founder of The International Lesbian, Gay Association (ILGA), author of 'La pédophilie en question', and leader of French support groups for sexual minorities, who was killed in mysterious circumstances. Rev. Hans Visser laid a grave marker for him, and issued a memorial volume 'Doucé, Voor alles pastor: de zorg van Joseph Doucé voor sexuele minderheden' (Pastor before all else: Joseph Doucé's ministry for sexual minorities) in his honor.
