Description

The nonmarine Cretaceous deposits are widely distributed in the Chulym-Yenisei area of south- western part of Western Siberia. They are exposed along Kiya, Chulym, Kem and Kas rivers. The sand and clay sediments of the Kiya and Simonovo Formations contain abundant, well-preserved plant re- mains. About 100 distinct fossil plant species are recognized, and 50 species are described. Stratigraphic setting, age and systematic composition of Serta, Simonovo, Kubaevo, Podaik, Suchkovo, Kem, Kas and Seversk fl oristic assemblages are discussed. Examination of these fl oristic assemblages allow to combine them in three regional fl oras: the Serta, the Chulym and the Kas fl oras. The Serta (late Albian) and the Chulym (Cenomanian) fl oras are included in the Turan province of the Euro-Sinian palaeofl oristic region, and the Kas (Cenomanian) fl ora is included in the the Chul- ym-Yenisei province of the Siberian-Canadian palaeofl oristic region.
