Description

Preface: I first became fascinated by Frege as long ago as 1976, when as a student I had to write an essay on his widely read article ‘Uber Sinn und Bedeutung’. Later, when studying his philosophy more intensively I found myself pondering the very same question I had encountered earlier; what is the epistemology that forms the background of Fregean logic? This work proposes an answer to this conundrum, which was arrived at by looking into an apparently modest guestion concerning Frege's view of the word 'is'.
